Every credential family the Institute issues sits inside one of these areas. New families are added inside an accredited area, or the area is extended first.
AI governance
Governance structures, supervision, disclosure, and documentation for organizations deploying AI systems.
Human rights due diligence
Identification, prevention, mitigation, and accounting for human rights impacts in operations and value chains.
Governance and compliance
Board and management-level oversight design, policy architecture, and control evidence.
Professional ethics
Duty of competence, confidentiality, and candour as they apply to technology-assisted practice.
What accreditation governs
The obligations the Institute holds.
- Standard integrity
- Each Standard is published, versioned, and reviewed on a fixed cycle. Changes are dated and the prior version stays available.
- Examination
- Assessment is against the published Standard only. Item banks are reviewed, and results are recorded with the Standard version in force at the time.
- Register
- Credential holders are recorded with the jurisdiction, any endorsements, the issue date, and the maintenance status.
- Maintenance
- A credential expires unless maintenance obligations are met. Lapsed status is recorded rather than deleted.
- Appeals
- Candidates may appeal an assessment outcome. The route, the timeline, and who decides are published.
